After
reading an article in an Audubon magazine, about this young Madagascar
man, I was inspired to paint this portrait of him. He (Bedo) worked
as a guide to field biologists in Madagascar. He was noted for being
a steward to the unique wildlife (many of which are now Endangered Species)
that inhabit what remains of Madagascar's rapidly vanishing rainforests.
Bedo was found murdered at the age of 20 years old. The motives for
his murder were undetermined. There was however suspicion that his death
was related to his passion to protect the wildlife from exploitation.
